Dear Parents and Students,

I am very excited that the new school year is about to begin! It has been a busy summer at BCA as we have been planning for the school year ahead, ordering supplies, cleaning and improving our facility, and introducing new families to the school.

This letter will provide you with information about the upcoming school year. In the mid-summer email to families I introduced some of our new staff. I am happy to welcome the following new staff members:

Mrs. Diana St. John is our new Administrative Assistant. Diana has many years of experience working in the corporate world as well as for non-profit organizations. She is very excited about her new role at BCA.

Mr. Jude Kudera will be teaching music. Jude has served as Director of Music at his church and has been teaching music for many years to students in Grades 1-8. He has developed and implemented curriculum to meet and exceed the Ontario Music Curriculum guidelines. In addition to his teaching experience, Jude also is an organist at his church.

Mrs. Tammy Smith will be teaching Grade 5. Tammy was one of our excellent supply teachers this past year. She has taught previously in the public school system. Tammy has a background in PE and we look forward to having Tammy teach some of our PE classes. Tammy has also worked in her church as a youth pastor planning and implementing children’s programs.

Mrs. Brie Chapman will be teaching the Junior Kindergarten class this year. Brie has been part of the BCA team for about 6 years now in many different roles, from working with students with special needs one-on-one to resource teaching to supply teaching. She is thrilled to be joining such an amazing group of staff and students in a classroom teaching role this year.

Social Media at BCA

Our social media presence helps to reinforce the strong community atmosphere that makes our school so special by allowing our families to actively engage and connect with each other at home, while simultaneously spreading the word about BCA to the local community so that we may act as a bright light to others as they learn about the work God is doing both in and through our school.

There are many ways that your involvement helps our content to circulate. You can like a post, comment on a post, tag us in your own pictures, use the hashtags #onlyatbca, #bca, or #burlingtonchristianacademy, #bcaschool, share a post that we have created on your own accounts, and contribute to our page by submitting your own posts or writing a review.

It is not just about telling others about how wonderful our school is; we also use the accounts to communicate with our school community about upcoming events, news, classroom announcements, and school closures. Most importantly, these accounts are also used to showcase pictures of your children hard at work throughout the day.

Life Threatening Allergies

BCA is a peanut/nut sensitive school. If touched or eaten, foods that contain even a small amount of nuts may be life threatening to students with allergies. We ask that students not bring any food products that contain peanut or nut products in their lunches. If your child has an allergy and requires medication to be administered in case of an incident, please contact the office. A Medication Form needs to be completed and will be kept with the medication in a central location accessible to staff.
