Dear BCA Families It has certainly been a dream winter for those who love the wintery weather! The toboggans are getting a lot of use! Hard to believe that March is here and in a few short weeks, March break. In spite of the short week this week there has been a lot going on at the school. On Monday, the grade 6 class put on their chapel presentation. Students had written skits on the topic of the “I am” statements of Christ, with a particular focus on “I am the light of the world” and “I am the bread [...]

Dear BCA Families What a great week at BCA! Yesterday students enjoyed a lovely day of outdoor activities in mixed grade groups in the morning and skating in the afternoon for our annual Winterluve event. Grade 7&8 students led the outdoor events and provided leadership in each of the groups. The weather was absolutely perfect for the winter outdoors! It was nice to see so many parents out for the afternoon skate! Students enjoyed some hot chocolate at the school following their skating time. Dear BCA FamiliesOur week started off with the Grade 3 Chapel presentation on Monday featuring skits and music based on the theme of the “I am” statements of Jesus. Our SOTA students also shared their talents with us.French ProjectsGrade 8 French students have spent the past couple of weeks working on francophone country travel posters. They were tasked with presenting a country study with the idea of a travel brochure, to generate interest and make us want to travel there! They focused on location, terrain, people, foods, landmarks and attractions. They were so creative with their drawings and produced lovely [...]

Dear BCA Families, With a break in the weather and temperatures heading closer to zero, I hope you can enjoy the long weekend ahead and get outdoors! It has been hard for students this week with the extreme cold temperatures, beautiful snow cover and no outdoor recesses! They were very disappointed. We enjoyed a short video in chapel this week based on John 14:6, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the father, except through me”. As always our chapel time began with Mr. Cope and Miss Jaclyn leading us in worship songs. [...]

Dear BCA Families, What an interesting week, weather wise. The students were indoors on Monday when it was too cold to go outdoors, with all the fresh snow ready to be tobogganed on. Tuesday was more seasonal and students enjoyed a great day of outdoor recesses. Wednesday was another inside day due to wet and extreme slush! Thursday and today were more seasonal. Students love tobogganing and building snow forts and hopefully they will continue to enjoy the outdoors. Chapel Mr. Cope message on Monday’s chapel was based on the words of Jesus, “I am the way and the [...]

Dear BCA Families, This week in Chapel we had guest speaker Paul, from Next Door Space. He spoke to us about the many community programs they provide to those families in need. He also thanked our students for the Beanie Baby/Mitts that were donated by our students. We saw pictures of children receiving their gifts and he mentioned how thankful they were to receive these gifts.  Money raised from our Toonie Casual Days is directly given to Next Door Space and it is wonderful for students to understand the needs that are in our own community and how they [...]

Dear BCA Families, Happy New Year! I trust you enjoyed a wonderful couple of weeks with your children. In Chapel, I continued our study of the “I am” statements of Jesus. This week we looked at John 14:6 when Jesus stated, “I am the way, and the truth and the life”. Jesus was telling his disciples that it is time for him to leave and go to Heaven. He tells them he is going to prepare a special place for them there. But Thomas, one of Jesus’ disciples, gets worried. He tells Jesus he doesn’t know the way to [...]

Dear BCA Families, In Chapel this week we continued to learn about Advent. There is a reason people fill their homes with candles and lights during Advent and Christmas. We use these special decorations to welcome Jesus, who is the Light of the World. This week, week 3 of Advent Johanna and Alexandra lit the candle representing joy. I shared with the students some Bible verses about joy and mentioned that joy is different from happiness; joy comes from knowing the Lord and is not affected by circumstances, as happiness is. Luke 2:10-11 New International Version (NIV) 10 But [...]
