Curtain Call is a dynamic Musical Theatre Program for aspiring Grade 6-8 students who are passionate, or simply curious, about theatre.

Each year, students will encounter a variety of theatrical techniques, focuses and opportunities that will lead to a broad expanse of theatrical knowledge and experiences. Students can anticipate exciting field trips, workshops, drama games, monologues, clowning, script study, Shakespearean Theatre, improvisation and much more.

There are multiple performance opportunities for students throughout the year, including: chapels, in-class performances, a One-Act Play in December performed at BCA (past productions include Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Princess Who?, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs), and our main performance opportunity … *insert drum roll* … our full Broadway Jr. Musical experience in May of each year. Previous musicals include Seussical Jr. 2014, Peter Pan Jr. 2015, The Sound of Music 2016 (4 shows completely sold out), and we’re looking forward to Beauty and the Beast in the spring of 2017. Students get the full experience of putting on a musical from learning songs, choreography and lines, to helping create set, props and costumes. Our musicals are performed at Theatre Burlington and are truly an exceptional production. At the theatre, students get used to microphones, stage lights, and of course, the thrill of performing with make-up, hair, costumes and a large audience. It is a self-confidence building and meaningful experience that no one will want to miss.

Overall, the intent of Curtain Call is to provide students with a unique opportunity to experience theatre in a Christ-centered way. To learn about and develop the individual talents that God has given to each student, and how to use them in God honouring ways. We hope that students grow not only as actors/singers, but as Godly individuals. This program is focused on seeing students achieve success in all areas of life.
