Dear BCA Families,

At Monday’s Chapel we continued with the theme of the “I am” statements of Jesus. This week I spoke to students about “I am the vine” based on John 15:5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing”. In this verse the “I” represents Jesus and the branches are those who are followers of Jesus, us. The fruitful branches are those believers who by their living and close relationship with Jesus produce much fruit. I referred to the kind of “fruit” we produce when we are fruitful branches. This fruit is listed in Galatians 5:22-23 as the fruit of the spirit.  “The fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control”.  To produce this kind of fruit in our lives we must stay connected to Jesus. If we keep our life connected to Jesus we will grow. I encouraged students to be a beautiful branch on a tree and not a (dried up and removed from the tree) “stick in the mud”.
