Grades JK - 5

“Our focus at Burlington Christian Academy is on differentiated instruction. This approach allows teachers to know their students and can teach to each student’s strength.”

- Heather Crossing (former Principal)

At BCA, we believe that differentiated instruction is at the very foundation to a student’s academic success. Our teachers spend time learning about each of their students. By understanding the unique learning abilities of each student, our teachers can teach and connect with each student individually. We know each student learns differently. It is important for us to have students that can’t wait to come to school. A child who wants to be at school, is ready to learn!

Our students learn the basics of math and language arts, as well as science, Bible, computers, art, music, and physical education. These subject areas provide students with a well-rounded education designed to promote the essential components of child development.

We also have a very strong focus on and commitment to experiential learning. In addition to our amazing classroom work, we introduce the students to hands on learning experiences. We believe that through “Learning by Doing”, it exposes students to experiences that will captivate their minds and help them find something to be passionate about, with a lasting impact. “Junior Programming” takes place weekly for two periods in mixed grade groups for students in Grades 3-5 in the areas of the arts, athletics and healthy living, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math).

The language arts curriculum, which balances literature and phonics, teaches our students to enjoy reading. Our math curriculum focuses on the mastery of math skills, understanding of important concepts, and the integration of problem solving.

As we provide the academic foundation, in all areas of the curriculum we acknowledge the sovereignty of God, the Lordship of Christ, the authority of God’s Word, and the power of the Holy Spirit.
